Danny and Skye are getting married next year and wanted to get some beautiful fall dark academia inspired photos. Their Grand Rapids engagement session took place at the highlands park and offered a gorgeous backdrop for their photos. We got lucky and had some peak fall Michigan colors on the trees still! Danny and Skye are two of the most kind and caring souls I’ve met. From the moment we met up it was an easy flow and they were incredible at taking my direction and making it their own.
I’ve done a lot of Grand Rapids engagement sessions in my years and I think this might be a new favorite. If you know me I love autumn, dark colors, photographing queer couples, and all of that came together so perfectly! Make sure to check out the blog next year to see their greenhouse wedding!

Tory and Sage’s engagement session at Grand Haven City Beach was a blast! The weather was perfect, the water was gorgeous, and the love they have for one another is undeniable. As they smiled and laughed, you can literally feel the love radiate through these two. Their love story begins in Spring of 2019 when they connected for the first time at Ypsi Pride on June 7th. Together they would take trips through Michigan lodging at airbnb’s, embarking on camping adventures, and planning to move in with one another. While they had their hearts set o august being the move-in month, Covid 19 pulled their decision up to May. Since then, the challenges they face and overcame taught Tory and Sage they can get through anything together.
Their family consists of each of their cats and Roo, their adopted dog. Sage surprised Tory with a proposal in Saugatuck a week after adopting Roo in February of 2021! As they are looking forward to their upcoming wedding day, it was a pleasure to celebrate their engagement and document such an important moment in their lives. With Roo in tow with a rainbow hat, Grand Haven City Beach provided a serene beach setting which was the perfect backdrop for this magical couple. I really loved the rainbow blanket they cuddled up on and Tory’s rainbow on the back of her jean jacket. I could not resist snapping a shot of both of their dazzling rings!
Congratulations Tory and Sage! Wishing you both many more adventures and radiant moments!

Lily and Jake are as stylish as they are talented. Both are opera singers in Florida and Lily is currently working on her doctorate. INCREDIBLE! The two are marrying here in Grand Rapids next May and I’m so excited for it! We met up this last fall for their engagement session while they visited to do some wedding planning. I absolutely love when couples get dressy and a little more formal for their photos. I mean just look at that incredible black dress and his pink suit jacket. We had a blast exploring some of what downtown has to offer! Lily and Jake are such kind hearted folks and I’m so happy to be their photographer!

Hollis and Kenny are two of the most fun and chill people I’ve worked with. Immediately we clicked and photographing them was a breeze! I’m going to be photographing their Belle Isle wedding next year and if it’s anything like this session I’m in for a real treat. We explored the industrial district of Grand Rapids near the river and had a blast. The sun was stunning and cooperated so well for us to get some stunning sunset shots. Enjoy some of my favorite frames!

Jasmine and Cady // West Michigan // LGBT Engagement Photography
Jasmine and Cady have some of the best laughs ever. During their engagement session they both had each other laughing the entire time. They had reached out looking for LGBT engagement photography as well as someone to capture their wedding! I was so happy that they found me, we mesh really well and they value those candid moments that I try and focus on. We headed to a new location for me, Bysterveld Park in Dorr, Michigan and had a great time exploring.
These two are planning a gorgeous day for summer of 2019 at Apple Blossom Chapel and Gardens in Fennville, Michigan. I’ve photographed there a few times and it promises to be a stunning day. I always love doing engagement sessions with my couples and LGBT engagement photography has a special place in my heart. Some of my absolute favorite photos have come from these sessions. As you will see in the photos Jasmine and Cady are a perfect match and I seriously cannot wait to see them get married!

I am so incredibly excited to be working with Katrina and Sasha. I first met Katrina through a mutual friend (who’s now in her wedding party!) at a sleepover in middle school. It’s so weird to think about how our paths have crossed again as adults! These two have such a warm hearted spirit about them and I was so thrilled to hang out with them at their engagement session. These two are planning a pretty non traditional wedding in Kalamazoo this May. I shot another same sex wedding at their venue many years ago so it’ll be so fun to go back and create more magic. I think especially as an LGBTQ photographer it’s important to get couples in front of the camera before the big day. It gets them more comfortable and ready for the big day. I find most of my couples haven’t been in front of the camera much, but these two absolutely nailed it. Their playful personalities mesh together so well and we had a blast exploring the park.
I’m counting down the days til their wedding and cannot wait to see the magic we make, stay tuned!
